Nature

In 1955, Saemisch moves to Sommerhausen in central Germany. During his frequent stays in the Alps, he climbs the mountains and gets acquainted with their inhabitants, exploring nature not only as a vital refuge but also a powerful mystery always waiting to be unraveled.

His relationship with nature and the mountains allows him to observe their cycles, appreciate their beauty, and understand the balance between the strength and fragility that emerges from their amazing complexity. This experience is reflected in works that capture the expressive capacity of nature from an intimate perspective. Beyond his focus on figuration, Saemisch recreates the essence of the natural world inspired by Cézanne’s idea of “creating order before nature” but favoring a subtler and perhaps more generous concept of his own: “making music before nature.”

want to achieve more transparency, thus revealing the conjunction and antagonism of the forces of existence.
