The lake

A significant portion of Saemisch’s work was created in Valle Bravo, where he developed his Lake series. In this series, Saemisch emphasizes the subtle textures, transparency, and fluidity of water. He recreated these qualities by layering the paper with organic brushstrokes and geometric lines, reflecting his journey towards abstraction and his admiration for Eastern art.

The series captures the essence of the lake and its surroundings while revealing the interplay between light, water, and the landscape. It serves as an invitation to meditative contemplation, where the landscape evokes profound emotional and spiritual resonance in the viewer.

The lake was fascinating. But I was also attracted by something else: the space that opened itself to uncertainty and left behind a dark unreal lake and a golden channel.

The catch

This series originates from the time that Saemisch spends with Veracruz fishermen, observing how they cast and pull their nets to gather fish. It alternates depictions of fish, nets, and fishing scenes.

As these works evolve and become increasingly abstract, their images transform into geometric explosions. In the Marvelous Catch series, Saemisch explores the abstract and spiritual essence of the catch, where living forms and colors convey the energy and dynamism of the cosmos. While these pieces mark a stylistic evolution, they also reflect a profound admiration for everyday life processes that connect human beings to their natural environment and cosmological perspectives.

Triangles are forms belonging to an abstract, powerful, and empty order. Although they draw upon forces acting upon them, they grow imbued with the intensity of their existence.
